Our observations highlighted that cyclophosphamide increased cholesterol, creatinine, and urea levels, indicating liver stress and potential damage. However, those rats treated with CoQ10 not only showed a reduction in these harmful markers but also a notable decrease in malondialdehyde levels, which are indicators of oxidative stress. Additionally, CoQ10 helped restore important antioxidant enzyme activities, suggesting its role in counteracting the oxidative stress induced by cyclophosphamide.
Interestingly, we also observed benefits on DNA integrity and histological health of the liver in those receiving CoQ10 alongside cyclophosphamide. This points towards its potential as a protective agent against drug-induced liver damage. Ultimately, our findings suggest that CoQ10 may offer significant protective effects against oxidative stress and other damaging processes in the liver when faced with cyclophosphamide treatment.
